Food Garden Program 2019
Offered to preschools and childcare in Adelaide as a one off incursion, or a seasonally focused full year program:
Rebecca Mumford of Greenhill Living will introduce the food garden to students and keep it alive in their minds during the seasons of the year.
Each session will include an interactive reading of Greenhill Living books, The Garden Gang with Gaye the Garden Girl.
The reading session will be followed by a seasonal planting activity in the food garden, or an individually tailored garden activity, specific to your garden.
The program aims to achieve an understanding of 7 learning outcomes:
Waste and Worms - the program also highlights the importance of worms in our soil and provides the opportunity to establish waste managements systems such as worm farms and compost.
"let's be mindful about waste........if worms can't break it down.....reduce the use"
Also Offered to primary schools in Adelaide, Australian Curriculum links have been made, specifically with Biological Science and Sustainability learning areas. Links to many Australian Curriculum areas can be made specific to your school. The program is offered as a one off incursion or regular consultation across all primary year levels (F-7), aiming to keep the school food garden growing through all the seasons of the year and connect our future young farmers to our environment.
